MICROS not sending orders to the kitchen? Staff enter items but nothing prints — or only part of the ticket shows. That means the terminal isn’t routing orders to the kitchen device correctly.

How to Fix MICROS Not Sending Orders to Kitchen

1. Check Kitchen Printer Status First

MICROS won’t reroute kitchen tickets — if the printer is offline, tickets stop.

  • Make sure it has paper and is powered on
  • Confirm the cable or network connection is secure
  • Test a “Reprint Last Order” from POS

2. Verify KDS Screens Are Connected

If using KDS instead of printed tickets, ensure the station has server connectivity.

  • Restart the KDS station
  • Check Wi-Fi or ethernet connectivity to the main server

3. Confirm Menu Item Routing

Every item must be assigned to a specific kitchen destination — salads → Cold Prep, pizza → Pizza Line, etc.

  • Open the item in back office
  • Verify it is assigned to the correct prep category/station
  • Save and push changes

Pro tip: If sides print but the entrée doesn’t → entrée item isn’t routed to a printer.

4. Reboot the MICROS Client

Forcing a new session clears stuck queues and reconnects to routing services.

  • Force quit MICROS
  • Restart the terminal
  • Log back in and test order flow

5. Test From Another Terminal

If another station prints correctly, it’s a local routing or network issue on the original terminal.

  • Try a cashier or bar station
  • If they work → resync or restart the faulty station
