How to Fix a Clover Device That Won’t Turn On
1. Charge the Clover Device for 10–15 Minutes
Most Clover “dead” devices simply have a drained battery. Clover Flex and Mini especially need a solid charge before they will power on.
- Connect the device to power
- Use the official Clover charging brick if possible
- Let it charge for 10–15 minutes
- Try powering it on again
If there’s no charging light at all, move to the cable/brick steps below.
2. Try a Different Power Brick or Cable
Clover devices are extremely sensitive to low-power chargers. Many third-party chargers won’t deliver enough wattage to wake the device.
- Swap the charging brick
- Try a different cable
- Avoid phone chargers—use a high-wattage Clover-approved adapter
- Test a second outlet
If it charges with one brick but not another, the adapter is the issue.
3. Hard Reboot the Clover Device
Sometimes the Clover OS freezes, creating a black screen even though power is technically on.
- Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds
- Release
- Press the power button once more to start the device
This often fixes devices stuck on the Clover logo or frozen mid-boot.
4. Check the Charging Port (Flex, Mini & Go)
Dust, grease, or debris can block the charging pins and prevent power from flowing into the device.
- Inspect the USB-C or proprietary Clover port
- Remove debris with compressed air if needed
- Ensure the connector snaps firmly into place
Loose or wiggly ports are a common hardware failure point—especially on Clover Flex.
5. Try a Docking Base (Clover Flex & Mini)
If your Clover Flex or Mini won’t charge through the cable, try placing it on the charging cradle or dock if you have one.
- Place the device firmly on the base
- Confirm the base light turns on
- Wait 5–10 minutes
If it charges on the base but not with a cable, the cable or port is damaged.
6. Fix Clover Devices Stuck on the Clover Logo
If your Clover device powers on but freezes on the Clover logo, it may be a boot loop or software crash.
- Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds (force reboot)
- Try powering on while connected to the charger
- Confirm the battery isn’t completely drained
If the device keeps freezing on the logo, this usually requires Clover support intervention.
7. For Clover Station / Duo / Solo
These larger units rely on a separate power supply. If the unit is dead:
- Make sure the power brick is firmly connected
- Check the cable behind the customer-facing screen
- Inspect the wall outlet or use a new outlet
