Clover not updating or stuck on the update screen? This is a common problem on Clover Flex, Mini, Mobile, and Station devices—especially after long periods without updates. The device may show “Installing Update,” freeze mid-update, or loop repeatedly.
Below are the most common causes and the fastest ways to get your Clover device updated properly.
Table of Contents
Common Reasons Clover Updates Fail
- Poor or unstable internet connection
- Wi-Fi security blocking Clover update servers
- Insufficient storage space
- Corrupted previous update file
- Router firewall blocking Clover ports
- Clover froze during a power interruption
How to Fix Clover Not Updating
1. Restart the Clover Device
This refreshes the system and often restarts a stuck update automatically.
- Unplug the power cable.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Reconnect and reboot the device.
If the update immediately freezes again, continue below.
2. Check Wi-Fi & Internet Speed
Updates can fail if Clover loses internet mid-download or your Wi-Fi signal is weak.
- Restart your router.
- Move Clover closer to the router.
- Avoid guest networks or VPN connections.
- Test internet on another device.
Your Clover should automatically resume downloading the update once the connection stabilizes.
3. Switch to Ethernet (Mini / Station)
Wired connections make updates far more stable and prevent file corruption.
- Plug Ethernet into the Clover hub/base.
- Restart the device and retry the update.
4. Free Up Storage Space
Low storage can trigger update errors or “not enough space” messages.
- Open the Clover Dashboard.
- Go to Apps → Storage.
- Uninstall unused apps.
- Clear cached data if available.
Reboot and run the update again.
5. Check Firewall or ISP Blocking
Clover needs to access update servers. If ports are blocked, updates fail repeatedly.
- Open router firewall settings.
- Ensure ports 443 and 5222 are not blocked.
- Disable strict filtering temporarily.
- Restart modem/router.
6. Force a Hard Reboot
This clears partial updates and allows Clover to download a clean file.
- Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Release and power back on.
Most stuck updates resolve after a forced restart.
7. Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If the update file is corrupted beyond repair, a reset may be required.
- Power off the Clover completely.
- Hold power + volume up (Flex/Mobile).
- Choose “Factory Reset.”
- Allow 10–15 minutes for OS reinstall.
You’ll need to reactivate your device afterward.
When to Contact Clover Support
