Is your Clover device stuck on the Welcome screen? This is a common startup issue that affects Clover Flex, Mini, Mobile, and Station devices. You may see it after an update, sudden shutdown, or network change.

Below are the most common reasons this happens and the fastest ways to get Clover booting normally again.

Common Reasons Clover Gets Stuck on the Welcome Screen

  • Software update failed or got interrupted
  • Network connection dropped during boot
  • Loose or faulty power cable
  • Corrupted system files after crash or sudden shutdown
  • Faulty router or firewall blocking Clover startup
  • Damaged Clover power brick or hub

How to Fix Clover Stuck on the Welcome Screen

1. Power Cycle the Clover Device

This clears temporary startup hang-ups and is the fastest fix in most cases.

  • Unplug the power cable from the Clover device.
  • Wait 10 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and wait for the full reboot.

If the device continues looping at the Welcome screen, continue below.

2. Reseat the Power Brick & Hub

Many Clover devices freeze during startup because the power brick or USB hub connection isn’t fully seated.

  • Unplug the power brick from the wall.
  • Disconnect it from the Clover hub/power base.
  • Reconnect firmly until you hear or feel a “click.”
  • Reboot the Clover again.

3. Check Your Router or Internet Connection

Some Clover models stall on the Welcome screen if they cannot reach Clover servers.

  • Restart your router.
  • Check if your internet is live on another device.
  • Disable guest networks or VPNs.
  • Try a different Wi-Fi network if available.

Your Clover should move past the Welcome screen once internet is restored.

4. Hard Reboot (Forced Restart)

A forced restart clears deeper system hangs and is safe to perform.

  • Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
  • Release and power it back on.

This often fixes Clover devices that appear frozen during boot.

5. Try Ethernet Instead of Wi-Fi (Mini/Station)

Clover may fail to boot if Wi-Fi authentication or security fails. Ethernet removes that variable.

  • Plug in an Ethernet cable directly to the hub.
  • Reboot Clover.

If it gets past the Welcome screen on Ethernet — your Wi-Fi network is the issue.

6. Check for Firewall or ISP Blocking

Clover must reach Clover servers during startup. Blocked ports or firewalls can trap it at Welcome.

  • Ensure ports 443 and 5222 are open.
  • Disable strict firewall rules temporarily.
  • Restart modem/router.

Boot the Clover again to see if it passes the Welcome screen.

7. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If your device still won’t boot, you may need a full factory restore.

  • Power off the Clover completely.
  • Hold the power + volume up buttons (Flex/Mobile).
  • Select “Factory Reset.”
  • Allow ~10 minutes for reinstall.

This will reinstall CloverOS but requires reactivation.

When to Contact Clover Support

  • The Clover is stuck even after a factory reset
  • The device keeps rebooting endlessly
  • The power brick feels hot or smells burnt
  • You see “System Failure” or “Update Failed” messages

Yes. Certain models require a connection to Clover servers during boot, especially after updates.

Will a factory reset fix the Welcome screen issue?

Often yes, but only after trying power, network, and forced restart steps first.
